The One about Day 14 of my Holiday Film Marathon for 2022: A Cinderella Christmas (2016)

I found the film enchanting and while there are a few situations that I found a tad bit cheesy, but then again, many holiday telefilms are like that, I do have to say that “A Cinderalla Christmas” is one of the more entertaining, romantic holiday telefilms out there.  Check it out!

Angie works hard to run her uncle’s events business while her cousin Candace takes the credit. When Angie takes a night off to have fun at the Christmasquerade Ball, the mask and gown allow her to let loose, and she quickly catches the eye of Nicholas, a wealthy local bachelor. But then Angie has to go before revealing her identity, leaving Nicholas searching for his mystery woman in this modern take on the classic fairytale.

A holiday film which aired on Ion Television back in 2016, “A Cinderella Christmas” is directed by Tosca Musk (“who produced “Hollywood Dirt”, “The Matchmaker’s Playbook”, “Driven”) and written by Kelly Goodner (“Pretty Little Stalker”, “Beaus of Holly”).

The film stars award winning actress Emma Catherine Rigby (“Hollyoaks”, “Once Upon a Time in Wonderland”, “Prisoners Wives”), Peter Porte (“The Young and the Restless”, “Devious Maids”, “Baby Daddy”), Sarah Stouffer (“Bloomington”, “Switched at Birth”), Lesley Ann Down (“North & South”, “The Bold and the Beautiful”), Mindy Cohn (“The Facts of Life”) , Leland B. Martin (“Boomerang”), Lucy DeVito (“It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”, “Deadbeat”), Lana McKissack (“A Christmas Movie Christmas”, “Dark/Web”) and more.

The holiday film revolves around Angie (portrayed by Emma Catherine Rigby), a person who runs her uncle’s event planning business, but his spoiled daughter, her cousin Candace (portrayed by Sarah Stouffer) always takes credit for her work.

Angie has been raised by her uncle since her parents death but as she has been running her uncle’s event planning business, she wants to to tell her uncle that she would like to run the events business (since he is considering getting out of it) and confides with her cousin about it.  But on the big day she was going to tell her uncle, Candace has had told her father that she and Angie would be running the business together.

Angie is shocked by what happened, is told by Candace that she will call the shots and work for her.  But she can stop working from her until she marries a wealthy man. And because that will happen soon, then Angie can take over her father’s business.

It just happens that the Angie and her friends would be doing the catering for a ball held by the wealthy Nikolaus Karmichael (portrayed by Peter Porte). And Candace has her eyes set on Nikolaus as the wealthy man that she wants to marry.

But when she had a skin breakout and is unable to attend the ball and because the makeover appointment and the dress is available, Angie takes a break from the catering job (as her friends Lara and Robin can take care of the duties),she receives the makeover and wears her cousin’s dress and attends the ball and when a masked Angie and a masked Nikolaus meet and talk to each other, the two are like they were destined for each other.

But when those at the party must unmask themselves, Angie quickly leaves to return back to the catering job.

For Nikolaus, he believes the woman he met is the woman he’s destined to marry and so he will do what he can to find the woman in that special dress.  But what happens when Candace finds out Angie wore her dress and tells her that if she wants the business, she’s going to have to go with a lie that Candace was the person wearing the dress.

But how long can Angie go on with this lie of having her cousin marry the man she may love?

I have to say that I found this film to be quite enchanting.  It’s more of a romance film than a Christmas film.  While the film has the Christmas music playing in the background and of course, Angie setting up Christmas decorations in Nikolaus’ home, the film is more or less a romance film of two individuals who really click and are attracted to each other (despite both wearing masks and not knowing who each other’s identities are).

Actress Emma Rigby plays the role of Angie and I found her acting and overall presence in the film, played a big part in making this film work.  There is something with this actress that I felt the casting was perfect and just right for her.

She’s proven herself as a talented actress, even a decade before this film was made for her role in the British soap opera, “Holly Oaks”.  And it was truly great to see her star in a holiday film.

But for the most part, I found the film enchanting and while there are a few situations that I found a tad bit cheesy, but then again, many holiday telefilms are like that, I do have to say that “A Cinderalla Christmas” is one of the more entertaining, romantic holiday telefilms out there.  Check it out!
