This holiday, the Liddles have much to be merry about! Jacquie Liddle (Kelly Rowland) and her husband Tyler (Thomas Cadrot) are preparing for the arrival of their first baby. Meanwhile, Jacquie’s sister Treena (Latonya Williams) and her husband Julian (Jaime M. Callica) are thinking about adopting a baby themselves, and spirited, fashionista sister Kiera’s (Bresha Webb) relationship with Chris (Nathan Witte) is heating up. With their family expanding in ways they could never have expected, the Liddles are headed for a crazy Christmas filled with merry mayhem and lots of love and laughter.
Merry Liddle Christmas Baby is produced by Liddle Road Productions III Ltd and Charles Cooper. Kelly Rowland, Loretha Jones, Tim Weatherspoon and Denielle Jackson serve as executive producers. Allen Lewis and Bianca Versteeg serve as supervising producers. Kelly Fyffe-Marshall directs from a script by Andrea Stevens.
And here we are for day 35 of my holiday film marathon!
And today I take a look at the third Lifetime Television telefilm featuring the Liddle family titled “Merry Liddle Christmas Baby”.
“Merry Liddle Wedding” is directed by Kelly Fyffe-Marshall (“Black Bodies”, “Haven”) and written by Andrea Stevens (“Taxi Brooklyn”, “Charmed”, “First Wave”) and the film is executive produced by Kelly Rowland (singer, Destiny’s Child member, actress), who also plays the main protagonist.
Along with Rowland, “Merry Liddle Christmas” also stars Thomas Cadrot (“Debris”, “The Good Doctor”), Bresha Webb (“Run the World”, “Meet the Blacks”, “A Fall From Grace”), Latonya Williams (“Travelers”), Debbi Morgan (“All My Children”, “The Hurricane”, “Eve’s Bayou”), Jaime M. Callica (“Hypnotic”, “Ruthless”, “Under Wraps”), Chris Shields (“Chappie”, “Elysium”, “Godzilla”), Thalia Campbell, Aiden Stoxx, Leandro Guedes and more.
The film revolves around tech entrepreneur (owner of Liddle by Liddle Digital) Jacquie Liddle (portrayed by Kelly Rowland), after her success (from the first film) of winning over the brand and leading the tech division from Queen of the Castle and a successful relationship with Tyler Brooks (portrayed by Thomas Cadrot), the two were married in the second film, bought a new home and now Jacquie is a few days from giving birth, while Tyler is planning to open up his second restaurant based on his grandmother’s home cooking recipes but also awaiting the birth of the baby.
And because everyone is heading to Jacquie’s home for the holidays, we learn that middle sister Treena (portrayed by Latonya Williams) her husband Julian (portrayed by Jaime M. Callica) want to adopt a baby boy.
While youngest sister Kiara (portrayed by Bresha Webb) has arrived with her son Royce (portrayed by Leandro Guedes) and boyfriend Chris (portrayed by Nathan Witte), but has been feeling emotional and sick of late. While Chris has told the guys that he is planning to propose to Kiara.
While most of the family arrive, her father Wade (portrayed by Chris Shields) arrives, but due to an avalanche, her mother Marchelle (portrayed by Debbi Morgan) is unable to make it. But Wade will try to have mom involved via his tablet.
But as the days of Jacquie’s day to give birth coming soon, Jacquie starts to worry about being a mother. Kiara worries about having a baby shower for Jacquie and also scared about something life changing. While Treena and Julian receive news that may affect their holiday vacation.
“Merry Liddle Christmas” and “Merry Liddle Christmas Wedding” were no doubt a film with slick production, awesome costume and set design but for third film, we still get the Christmas decorations and different sets outdoors, but the focus is primarily on the characters and the life changes each of the Liddle daughters and family will be going through.
For the most part, the third film is entertaining and fun and I’ve said it before, I enjoy watching a film featuring the Liddle family.
But this film allows viewers to get to know the other family members and not all focused on Jacquie and Tyler. In reality, Kelly Rowland was also pregnant and for the most part, it was good to see the pregnancy side of Jacquie and everyone staying home to celebrate the holidays. While focusing on her worries of becoming a mother, but then also showing us the other Liddle family members as Kiara finds out why she is tired and not feeling well (while boyfriend Chris is not sure when is the right time to propose to Kiara), while Treena and Julian who have high hopes for an adoption to have a baby boy, but receive news from the adoption agency.
The film also shows us the family dynamics with the children, they also have a side story as they learn about a neighbor that the kids are scared of but are hoping to bring Christmas magic to this neighbor.
Debbi Morgan, who plays Rowland’s mother Marchelle is surprisingly not in the film in person, but she does show up ala live streaming video via tablet.
If anything, “Merry Liddle Christmas Baby” is an entertaining holiday film featuring the Liddle family but focuses more on the characters, family during the holidays along with the worries, the uncertainties and hope that comes their way as part of life but showing also kindness, compassion and love during the holidays.
While I’m not sure if there will be a fourth film or if the film was planned to be a trilogy, I do hope we can continue to see the Liddle family again for the holidays!
