The One about the SmileCare Pulse Oximeter

When it comes to devices to have in the house for health-related reasons, one should have an Oximeter along with a thermometer and also a way to take blood pressure in their home. I feel these are important.

So, how does an oximeter work? Quite easy, just put your finger in a slot and the device can detect the efficiency of oxygen in one’s blood and also small changes.

This time I am reviewing the SmileCare Pulse Oximeter.

And while many devices use AAA batteries or some sort of battery that needs to be replaced, this one is rechargeable!

Now what makes this stand out compared to other oximeters is the fact that it can connect to an Android app via Bluetooth (Android only, no iOS app). This is the first time I have reviewed an oximeter that has this function.

The app tracks records your results, so you can save the history of each result through this app.

But just put your finger in, click on the button to turn it on and just keep it in there for a mount 30 seconds to a minute or more to monitor your pulse and oxygen saturation. It’s easy to use.

The screen is easy to read thanks to the device’s OLED display which shows the heart beat mark, one button operation, Bluetooth icon, pulse rate, Blood Oxygen/Saturation Level and Battery Level Indication.

Now one thing I have to emphasize, I’ve tried different Oximeters and many are close to each other, most often not the same.  In fact, if I had five oximeters, I would get five different readings.  So, if they are close to each other, that’s good. If one is too far from the others in reading, then probably not good. So, oximeters…there really is no accurate one and best to have another to ensure that it’s correct or similar to each other. But it’s always said that oximeters tend to produce a 2% difference (+/-). 95% is normal but if lower than 92%, it’s something to keep an eye on and also possibly contact your physician.

Overall, the biggest plus is this is rechargeable and comes with its charging cable and for those who want to track their history, this is the best oximeter for this function, as you can connect to your smartphone.  The other is that the reading for Sp02 and pulse rate was very similar to my others which shows consistency and that it’s not far off in terms of reading.

But nonetheless, I do recommend the SmileCare Pulse Oximeter. It may be a bit pricey for some at under $32, but for one that is rechargeable, interacts with an Android app via Bluetooth and for its accuracy, this is probably one of the better oximeters available in the market under $35!
