The One about Chion-in in Higashiyama, Kyoto – Part 3: The Lush Greenery

With such a big location, Chion-in is known for its lush greenery.

There are two gardens one can enjoy, Yuzen’en Garden (to the right of Sanmon) and Hojo Garden (towards the back).  Yuzen’en Garden costs Y300 and Hojo Garden (Y400). Deduct half the price for children.

Both are open at 9:00 a.m. and Yuzen’en Garden closes at 4:00 p.m., while Hojo Garden closes at 3:50 p.m.

With the being said, if you don’t want to go to the gardens, you can still enjoy the lush areas regarding the public grounds.  The photos below are primarily from the free public grounds inside Chion-in.
