The One about the BrightWater Bio Premium Cut-to-Fit Foam, Bio Sponge Pad, for Aquarium Fish Tank and Pond

For those who own a HOB (Hang on the Back) filter, there are people who are wanting to find an inexpensive way to filter their tanks without having to purchase filter cartridges.

So, what are the positives and negatives of the BrightWater Bio Premium Cut-to-Fit Foam, Bio Sponge Pad, for Aquarium Fish Tank and Pond?

Positive: You get two!

Positive: You can easily clean it.  When doing your water change, remove the filter, squeeze it in your bucket or whichever has the water that is to be dumped out and that’s it, wring it out and then put it back inside the HOB filter.  That’s how it easy it is!

Positive: Uses a 20 PPI, fine pore structure that is design to trap medium type waste and housing bacteria.

So, in a way, it makes your HOB filter to be long lasting like a sponge filter.

What are the negatives?  Really, there are none.  But if I had to nitpick, you have to cut the foam (lazy people won’t like this). Second…Granted, with a HOB cartridge, those have active carbon which helps remove odors.  But you can easily put carbon (via a pouch or bag) inside a HOB filter along with this sponge, so really, you don’t have to buy cartridge filters any longer.

There really isn’t a negative.  It will work great, especially for third party HOB filter owners who find it difficult to purchase cartridges (especially for a HOB filter made in another country that don’t have replacement filters online).

So, overall…I highly recommend the BrightWater Bio Premium Cut-to-Fit Foam, Bio Sponge Pad, for Aquarium Fish Tank and Pond.  One purchase is probably going to last you a very long time.
