When it comes to breeding boxes, I’ve tried a few and I want to give you my thoughts on the Pawfly Fish Breeding Box Tank.
A breeding box tank is for those who want to breed fish and want to protect the fry from their parent from eating it.
How the Pawfly Fish Breeding Tank works is that it goes into an aquarium. This will work on a 5 gallon (tight fit) and up. As long as the breeder can be in the water and connects to the tank via suction cups.
There is a center divider to separate mom and dad and below is a flooring with a crack that the eggs or fry can fall through and sink to the bottom.
I do recommend putting a breeding box tank in a fry tank. The reason being is that if it’s a fry from a parent that is a live bearer, the fry can swim from the cracks.
I can see how it works great with Betta fish but for live bearing fish, please bare in mind that breeding boxes are not perfect. It all depends on conditions and I’ve had (live bearing) fish who got to stressed out when they are inside a breeding box tank. But I have used it before for breeding Bettas and having a place where the eggs can fall through works very well.
But overall, if you want to try out breeding Bettas, then definitely give the Pawfly Fish Breeding Box Tank a try!
