For those who own large aquariums and even outdoor breeding tanks, you’ll definitely want to give the FFXTW 6W Powerful Aquarium Wave Maker a try!
A wave maker produces waves similar to the ocean and also stimulates the water to be circulated in the aquarium which helps to provide oxygen to the fish (so you don’t need a pump).
It’s definitely beneficial for marine aquariums as the circulation helps prevent poisonous substances to grow also helps deliver food to coral and other invertebrates.
The FFXTW 6W Powerful Aquarium Wave Maker is no doubt quiet, totally submersible and has an oil free motor. You can position it to flow 360 degrees. You CAN’T control the power of this wave maker.
It’s pretty much ready to go out of the box. Just attached the suction cup to the unit, submerge the wave maker to the side of your tank and it’s ready to go!
I saw someone say it can be used for a 10 gallon tank (because it wasn’t that powerful), so I decided to try it. If you are using sand substrate, this wave maker literally had way too much force that on my first test, it blasted the substrate to one end like it created a mountain. I did another test and had the wave maker pushing up and it was way too much flow. I tested a few fish to see their reaction and while there was a lot of power, it felt like it was giving them way too much of a work out.
So, I would NOT use this on a 10 gallon tank. Heck, I would NOT use this under a 50 gallon tank but I would use this on a much bigger tank, probably between 55-100+ gallons.
But the FFXTW 6W Powerful Aquarium Wave Maker worked well, but great for a bigger tank. And for the price at $13, it’s worth considering!
