The One about the Kmise Djembe African Hand Drum

The Djembe is a rope-tuned skin-covered goblet drum which is originally from West Africa.

Typically made of hardwood and feature a drumhead made of goatskin, the djeme is versatile in producing a wide variety of sounds.

I am reviewing the 8″ version of Kmise’s Djembe African Hand Drumb.

Kmise known for creating inexpensive instruments sells them in 4, 6 and 8 inches ($19.99, $29.99 and $45.99).

Made of real Indonesian mahogany, the drum skin is made of adult goat skin which has not been bleached.

The drum is hollowed in order to make vibration transmission go easily and the drum features an ethnic style painting.

Personally, I really like the drum but I don’t like how the painting is random.  I wish there were choices because I would have preferred in blues or even purples versus pink, yellow and green.

But I have experimented with it on various songs and I like the versatility of sounds I’m able to get with the drum.

I do like how well the drum plays, but I do feel that the drums would have been even better without the random painting.

I don’t like the fact that people who purchase the instrument don’t have the choice to get a design that works with them.  It’s like getting a guitar and you get a random color that you may or may not like.

In addition, the rubber on the bottom was cracked and looked like it was to come off.  Don’t get me wrong, it’s a very good drum but there are certain things that need to be reconsidered.

Otherwise, this is a very good and inexpensive Kmise Djembe African Hand Drumb!
