Ana Vee is one of those talented artists that you love to read about, especially how this local girl is making her dreams come true and then to come out with a song, in this case, “Hawai’i” and to be nominated for music awards, people recognizing her amazing talent. That’s awesome!
Daughter of Jawaiian (Hawaiian reggae) artist Namahana, Ana Vee’s hit song “Hawai’i” has no doubt captivated listeners of all ages.
And the song is included in her EP “Written” featuring a total of four awesome tracks!
In fact, she got a shout out from Janet Jackson on Instagram for her song “Hawai’i”!
Which led to Anna performing with Janet Jackson on stage in Hawaii:
And although this song has come out nearly a year ago, I’m still listening to it! It’s just a song that is full of aloha and I love it!
While the opening track “Hawai’i” is a heavily listened track on the “Written” EP, there are three more fantastic songs on this EP.
“One Time (Reggae Mix) [Explicit]” is a reggae version of her 2018 single (note: if you want the non-reggae version with the deep bass beats, you’ll have to purchase the single version of “One Time” separately).
But for the most part, I dig both versions, it’s a very good reggae remix and I dig it!
The third track is “Fade” an acoustic track and is a smooth R&B ballad showcasing Ana’s beautiful voice (Note: If you want the original single version, you’ll need to purchase the “Fade” single separately).
The final track is an acoustic guitar-driven track titled “Mauna Tribute” and next to “Hawai’i” is a song that I have listened to the most.
The song is Ana singing against the building of the Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT) on Mauna Kea, the second largest shield volcano in the world and for native Hawaiians is considered a temple.
In ancient chants as featured in the Kumulipo, the volcano is considered kino lau, the physical form of the gods. Mauna Kea is the son of Wakea, the sky father and Papahaumoku, Earth mother. So, the volcano is considered sacred.
Ana sings:
“Ku Kia’i Mauna, A’ole TMT” (Protect Mauna, no to the thirty meter telescope)
“Build that telescope somewhere else, not on our sacred Mauna please”
Overall, this is an EP that is getting a lot of play in my home, in my car and listening to the music, it makes me smile because I’m proud of this local girl who debated of whether or not to pursue music but decided to pursue her dreams. And to see how far she’s gone with her music career in under two years is fantastic!
“Written”, an EP by Ana Vee is highly recommended!
