The One about the Billabong Warp Pro Boardshorts

Back in the ’90s, I used to have these cool shorts from Billabong and man, I miss those years when Billabong rocked the arch logo (which is making a comeback).

For me, while Billabong has gone through changes over the decades, the signature Billabong arch logo is a time I remember quite vividly (next to the classic Bad Billy logo).  And it’s the style that I remembered from my grommet surfing years back in the ’90s.

And I saw these Billabong Warp Pro Boardshorts and I have to say, I love these shorts!

Featured in neon coral, the light blue Billabong arch with the palm trees on the left and in the rear, three Billabong logos with the wave and the light blue and the neon coral with dark gray go along nicely.

The neon coral goes well with my Billabong Hawaii t-shirts that incorporate a color to the design similar to the neon coral so everything matches quite well.

While the shorts looks nineties surf culture, these modern Billabong shorts features a modern stretch, micro repel water-repellent coating and a performance-minded engineered fit.

The Pro Series is also made from eco and performance-minded 4-way stretch recycled fabric(which are made from recycled PET plastic bottles) and surprisingly, the stretch really works amazingly well.  No worries of splitting under the crotch like the old days.

The rear pocket features a patch pocket with hook and loop closure at the back.  The rear pockets have two strips of velcro.

The shorts have an 19-inch outseam which is just right and I have to say, these shorts fit to size and absolutely rock!

Overall, I recommend these Billabong Warp Pro boardshorts!

What is Billabong?

If there is one surf brand that I have consistently worn since I was in high school, it’s Billabong.

Billabong is an Australian surf company which was founded in the Golden Coast, Queensland in 1973 by Gordon and Rena Merchant and the name is derived from the Wiradjuri (a group of Aboriginal Australian people) word “bilaban” (a creek that runs only during the rainy season).

Back then Gordon designed and created boardshorts at his home and sold them to local surf shops. Because of the triple stitching technique, surfers seeked the quality of these boardshorts and this would lead to the beginning of Billabong’s success.

The company owns many brands from Von Zipper, Element, Honolua Surf Company, Kustom, Palmers Surf, Xcel, Tigerlily, Sector 9 and RVCA.

In 2018, the company was acquired by Boardriders, Inc., which owns Quicksilver.
