The One about the Volcom Verano Stoney 19″ Boardshort

When the weather gets warmer, I start moving towards wearing boardshorts.

As a kid who surfed, I have always loved wearing boardshorts but I could only get a pair or two as boardshorts were (and still are) a bit expensive.

I remember family talking about how I could get three pairs of pants for the price I paid for a surfing boardshort.  And to be truthful, it’s true BUT if you remain patient, certain surf brands and surfshops have sales on their online shops that helps ding the sting of sticker shock.

A pair of shorts that I picked up is the Volcomm Verano Stoney Boardshorts.

These boardshorts are made of hemp fibers and have a 4-way stretch material.  There are signature canvas patches and it has a back flap patch pocket.

It has a Stoney Cinch Fly technology which I so much enjoy over the old velcro fly.

No these shorts do not have pockets, but the one back flap patch pocket (the only part that uses velcro).

I do have to say that I went back and forth before purchasing these boards shorts.  For one, they are tropical which I love, but the heather gray, I tend to stay away from any clothing with “heather”.  It’s just not my thing.  Second, I debate sometimes on 19″ outseams.  Will it be too short, is 20″ or 21″ the ones I want to stick with?

The 19″ outseam was perfect for me.  Right above my knee cap.

But I figured that there is enough black and tropical design to make me at least give it a try and I’m glad I did.  These shorts are comfortable and I do like them a lot.

The thing I noticed is that the flower placements are different for each short.  So, not all are the exact same, floral patterns may be different from what you see on the actual item offered on a store.

For example, I saw one pair with no floral pattern on the fly, others that have a lot near the fly.  Mine has no floral to the left of the fly but a white flower to the right of the fly.

Granted, I’m please with what I received and I have no complaints.

Typicaly these shorts go about $65, but I got them on sale for under $40.  For those wondering where I got these boardshorts for a cool price, I got them at T&C Surf Shop in Hawaii (via online).
