When it comes to turmeric tea, Taka Turmeric which is based in Cape Town, South Africa delivers.
Where many countries go to India, Taka Turmeric found out that only a small percentage of Turmeric is organically and ethically grown and comes in different grades (similar to China’s Pu-erh teas) and the amount of curcumin (The active ingredient in turmeric) can vary.
And so the company has learned to source the very best herbs and spices to create a a golden synergy of taste and health.
For those not familiar with turmeric, it is great for anti-inflammatory, as an antioxidant, antibiotic, aids in metabolism and supports weight management, aids in arthritis, helps heals stomach, helps soothes coughs and asthma and more.
The tea I am reviewing is Taka Turmeric’s Hibiscus Cinnamon and the tea is activated by crushed black peppercorns.
The tea is made from the scarlet petals from a hibiscus flower and blended with woody cinnamon spice. Ingredients also include Turmeric, Ceylon Cinnamon, Grated Coconut, Liquorice, Orange Peel, Star Anise, Clove and Black Pepper.
This is my second favorite of the Taka Turmeric offerings, with Masala Chai being my favorite. The Hibiscus Cinnamon comes mightily close as I absolutely love the taste.
It has more of the cinnamon taste and a hint of spice. But if anything, I found this tea to be refreshing and flavorful and at under $7, that’s a great deal.
Also, Hibiscus supposedly helps prevents hypertension, lowers blood pressure, reduces blood sugar levels and keeps the liver healthy. It’s important to note that there is no scientific evidence to support this but as a tea, I can tell you that I enjoy it and I recommend it!
Each box comes with 15 unbleached tea bags and once again, under $7 for a box! So, the Taka Turmeric Hibiscus Cinnamon Tea is definitely worth it!
