The One about the Diswoe 500 in 1 Handheld Game Console

I had to check out the Diswoe 500-in-1 Handheld Game Console, which resembles a classic Nintendo Gameboy handheld console, with the old Famicom (NES) style controller (to allow for two players) and comes in purple.

It also comes with the a charging cable, 800mAh rechargeable battery (which should not be kept in the console if not playing for an extended period of time) and the ability to connect to a TV via the old school composite cable adapter.

At under $22, the game console made of plastic feels like it would shatter if dropped on a hard surface, so just know that in advance prior to purchasing the console.

Now the battery life of the 800mAh large capacity lithium battery is about five hours when the unit is fully charged.

It’s important to note that the 500-in-1 version is much better than it’s 400-in-1 version.  It’s only a dollar more at under $22 but both are very different.

For this 500-in-1 console version, once you turn on the console, you select the wording in Deutch, Francaise, English or Japanese (the 400-in-1 version is only Chinese and English). So, for those who must have the characters in Chinese, the 400-in-1 is the way to go.

And depending on your selection, the titles of the games will show in that language.

Now what about the games?  For one, it’s seems to be a little better organized in listing than the 400-in-1 countepart.  But with that being said, the  500 games included are a plethora of NES games released in the U.S. and in Asia.   Unfortunately, you will find some lists that are not in alphabetical order.

For example:

474: Zippy Race
475. Spelunker
476. Bomb King
477. Happy Island
478. To To
479. Man in Red
480. Warrior
481. Ninja 2
482. Mars

For many of the games, they are in English and you will find games like the various “Mario” NES games, as well as “Contra”, “Ninja Gaiden”, “Adventure Island”, “Pro Wrestling”, “Astyanax” and more.  And you will find Japanese games such as the “Macross” shmup, “Hokuto no Ken” and even the classic “Pikachu” game.  Granted, some of my favorite NES games like “Final Fantasy”, “River City Ransom”, “Little League Baseball”, etc. are not included.

But there are some interesting games that were not made back in the 8-bit era such as “Street Fighter VI” or “Angry Birds”, that are featured.

And while there are 500 games, there games that are duplicated.  So, while there are 500 games, in reality, in terms of how many titles, there are probably around 450+ games included. If anything, unlike the 400-in-1 (which had plenty of duplication), there are more games and less duplication on this 500-in-one version, which is great.

There is no save function, but a lot of games didn’t have that function back then and gave you long passwords.

But with that being said, considering the price at $22 and the fact that you have so many NES games included in this handheld game console, that’s a bit of a surprise.

The screen is easy to see on its 2.8-inch LCD screen but games like “Macross” where an enemy weapon is a long white line and is a hard to see on a light background.  But that’s how things were back then and for some games, it helps to have a bigger screen.

So overall, this is way better than Diswoe’s 400-in-one which is a dollar less.  Get this 500-in-one version, which is the better version!

Overall, for those who miss the old classic school games on their classic NES console and want an affordable handheld gaming console with a plethora of 8-bit games, including popular Nintendo titles, the Diswoe 500 in 1 Handheld Game Console is recommended!
