The One about the Ueteto Acoustic Guitar Humidifier

The Ueteto Acoustic Guitar Humidifier is an inexpensive guitar maintenance product to have if you live or are performing in an area with humidity.

There are many people who have had guitars or ukulele made of solid wood which changes with temperature and humidity. From moving a guitar to hot to cold areas, one may notice a change in sound.

The worst thing is because a guitar’s neck and body can fluctuate, there are countless stories online about people experiencing loose bridges, bulging or cracking bodies, fret buzz and more.

For any solid-wood guitar, you don’t want the guitars to dry too quickly or the result is cracking.  Put too much humidity and that leads to swelling and will destroy the guitar.

The goal is to keep one’s guitar/ukuleles between 35-65% humidity, in areas that are dry or low humidity or high humidity, a humidifier is important to have. [Note: This requires monitoring humidity in your home].

If you are going to invest in an acoustic guitar or ukulele, the good news is that investing in a acoustic guitar/ukulele humidifier is inexpensive.

For the Ueteto Acoustic Guitar Humidifier, its quite easy to use and best used on guitars kept in its hard case or gig bag.

You may want to detune your guitar so you don’t have to stretch out your strings too much.

With the humidifier, first unscrew the top, remove the yellow sponge and soak it into a bowl of water.  When the sponge has soaked in the water, put it back into the humidifier, close the cap and then place the humidifier between the two center strings and that’s it.

NOTE: Make sure the entire sponge is wet including the center, the sponge can take about an hour or more to get wet, but because it will float, I put a spoon on top of it, to fully submerge the sponge in water. This cuts down the time for the entire sponge to be fully wet.

Keep checking the sponge periodically if kept in a bag or case and if it’s soft, it’s wet. If it’s hard, it needs to be wet again. So, repeat the process again.

The Ueteto Acoustic Guitar Humidifier is simple to use, under $7 and definitely worth trying!
