The One about the Diswoe 400-in-1 Handheld Game Console

I had to check out the Diswoe Handheld Game Console, which resembles a classic Nintendo Gameboy handheld console, with the old Famicom (NES) style controller (to allow for two players).

It also comes with the a charging cable, 800mAh rechargeable battery (which should not be kept in the console if not playing for an extended period of time) and the ability to connect to a TV via the old school composite cable adapter.

At under $21, the game console made of plastic feels like it would shatter if dropped on a hard surface, so just know that in advance prior to purchasing the console.

Now the battery life is about five hours when the unit is fully charged.

Once you turn on the console, you select the wording in Chinese or English.  And depending on your selection, the titles of the games will show in that language.

Now what about the games?

The 400 games included are a plethora of NES games released in the U.S. and in Asia.  For many of the games, they are in English and you will find games like the various “Mario” NES games, as well as “Contra”, “Ninja Gaiden”, “Adventure Island” and more.  And you will find Japanese games such as the “Macross” shmup and even the classic “Pikachu” game.  Granted, some of my favorite NES games like “Final Fantasy”, “River City Ransom”, “Little League Baseball”, “Batman”, etc. are not included.

And while there are 400 games, there games that are duplicated.  So, while there are 400 games, in reality, in terms of how many titles, there are probably around 200-250 games included.

There is no save function, but a lot of games didn’t have that function back then and gave you long passwords.

But with that being said, considering the price at $21 and the fact that you have so many NES games emulated and included in this handheld game console, that’s a bit of a surprise.

The screen is easy to see on its 2.8-inch LCD screen but games like “Macross” where an enemy weapon is a long white line and is a hard to see on a light background.  But that’s how things were back then and for some games, it helps to have a bigger screen.

So, aside from build durability, duplicated games, the fact that you get a lot of games for under $21 is a surprise!

It’s important to note that Diswoe sells a 500 in 1 handheld game console for a dollar more.

Overall, for those who miss the old classic school games on their classic NES console and want an affordable handheld gaming console with a plethora of 8-bit games, including popular Nintendo titles, then definitely give this Diwoe handheld game console a try!
