TRAVEL GUIDE: The One about where are the best places to take overhead photos or video above Shibuya Scramble Crossing?

One of the questions that I get is where one can get good overhead photos or video of people walking through Shibuya Scramble Crossing.

There are several locations, each offering different views. Also, depending on how high you want to go.

So, let’s start with shortest overhead location and we’ll work it out to the highest location.

Please note: These are heavy visited public locations, so I would not bring a tripod.

I. STARBUCKS above TSUTAYA at Q-FRONT BUILDING

This is for those who are good with two floors high, want to get something to eat or drink at Starbucks. It’s also the most crowded and you won’t be able to always get a seat. Also, if the sun is shining directly on you, it’s hot inside there!

The view is OK but not the best.  You can see a vantage from my video (with the people walking backwards).

II. L’OCCITANE CAFE & CAFE GUSTO

Across from the Q-FRONT Building is L’OCCITANE CAFE & CAFE GUSTO which gives a good sight of those walking towards the Q-Front Building or towards Shibuya 109.  Cafe Gusto looks towards that area, while L’OCCITANE CAFE also gives a vantage point towards Shibuya Station.

III. Shibuya Station

Some people like to take photos from the passage way at Shibuya Station.  It’s not the greatest place to take photos.

OK, now it’s time for mid-level which is even better!

IV.  MAG’S PARK @ MAGNET BY SHIBUYA 109 (7th Floor)

Right near Shibuya Scramble on the other corner right across from the Q-FRONT Building is MAGNET BY SHIBUYA 109.  Where the others were 2nd-4th floor, now we go even higher at the 7th floor.  To find it, look for the red Glico Video Sign and MAGNET is the white building.  The place used to be known as 109 MEN’S back then.

You can also take a picture via the CROSSING PHOTO APP.  This cost Y1000 for 100 seconds, so take as many cool photos that you can!

And now the highest location which opens on NOVEMBER 2019!!!

V.  SHIBUYA SKY @ SHIBUYA SCRAMBLE SQUARE (45th to 47th floors)

While standing on the corner of Shibuya Scramble looking towards MAGNET is this huge skyscraper that is currently being completed.  As you can see my photo from April, they are still working on the top.  But here is the concept image from the top.  Entrance Fee is tentative at Y2000.
