Continuing in the Koshien room which displays many decades of memorabilia, you get to a section that showcases baseball hats by many different high school baseball teams that participated in the Koshien tournament.
And next to the hats are even more baseball teams memorabilia via the Collection Gallery featuring memorabilia of many who have participated in the Koshien Tournament.
Narasino in Chiba won Koshien in August 1967, 7-1 against their Hiroshima rival team.
Hiroshima won 3-2 over Shizuoka in August 1973.
Saga Shougyokoukou had a great stretch in 1994 and on August 1994, won the 76th Summer Koshien Tournament.
Saga Kita won the 2007 Koshien over Koryo in a close game, 5-4. It’s regarded as one of the best Koshien games and in the 100th anniversary of Koshien, was voted #5 of best Koshien games of all time.
Above is Osaka Toin who beat Kosei Gakuin 3-0 in 2012. For Kosei Gakuin, this was their second straight time to get into Koshien but were beaten both times, unable to score.
In the bottom is the uniform for Nihon Bunri, who lost against Chukyodai Chukyo in a close match, 10-9. Nihon Bunri was making a comeback and had the tying run, but the third basemen caught the ball ending Nihon Bunri’s run. The game was voted # 2 best game of all time.
Once you move past the collection, you see another collection of jerseys.
These are those who succeeded overseas, Matsui Hideki, Matsuzaka Daisuke, Tanaka Masahiro, Darvish Yu who played in the MLB and showcasing their gameplay at Koshien.
The jerseys of the 2006 final between Waseda Jitsugyo (which Saito Yuki pitched) and Komadai Tomakomai (which Tanaka Masahiro pitched). It was a pitching battle that lasted a long time.
The 2006 will be remembered as being the first two day game in which the game was tied after 15 innings and so the game had to end and be played again the following day and Waseda would win 4-3. While Tanaka did not win in 2006 in this epic battle, Tanaka Masahiro won the year prior in 2005.
The game was voted #3 best game of all time in the 100th anniversary poll.
Darvish Yu helped his Tohoku team make it into the finals but unfortunately lost against Joso Academy of Ibaraki 4-2.
In 1998, Matsuzaka Daisuke threw 250 pitches in 17 innings. That’s insane! Matsuzaka’s Yokohama team would win 3-0. The game is considered as the #1 best Koshien game of all time in a best 100 poll for the 100th anniversary of Koshien.
Surprisingly, Suzuki Ichiro’s Nagoya’s Aikodai Meiden Koko jersey was in a different display. Ichiro helped Meiden beat larger schools in 1991, but unfortunately, they were knocked out of the tournament before reaching the finals.
I’ll continue with part 4 from the Museum of Hanshin Koshien Stadium!
