The One about my Apple Mac Mini Dying on Me

A very old photo during a time when I was using three Mac’s.

For nearly 20 years, I have been using Apple Mac computers.

Before I go on, I want to say that I have also owned PC’s and Linux computers as well.  So, there is no specially affinity as having different computers and knowing how to use them is quite useful.

But I have used Apple Mac’s since I was in high school in journalism, used them for my business in the past, where they functioned as my graphic design, multimedia based console and where I did a lot of my photo and video editing.

My G4 Mac was utilized for seven years and never died.  It just became too old and became more of my podcast and music editing machine until I retired it in 2007.  My PowerBook died after several years of use.  And in 2007, I used a MiniMac and quickly learned how I was killing the internal harddrive and the screen from overuse and having it on 24/7.  But it did last me another seven years and despite the Super Drive not working anymore, I retired it and gave it to my parents, in which they continued to use it until last year. So, it had about 11 years of use.

But after I retired my iMac, I then purchased the top of the line at the time, Mini Mac in 2014.  I wasn’t sure if I should get it because I was not sure about the power and if it would be suitable for video editing, but I quickly learned it was great for multimedia uses, especially for graphic design work and photo work.

I go through harddrives quickly, because I run my computers 24/7 and I suppose the heat ended up killing the harddrive and so I have had to use an external drive for a lot of my work.  In fact, I had five externals running on my Mac Mini.

And I started to see how slow and sluggish it became but I was still able to do video editing and photo work until it officially died.

Not necessarily sure if it was my CyberPower UPS or the power outlet but I heard beeping (which usually is a dead battery on my UPS) but it kept going on and off quickly and whatever happened, the Mac Mini went kaput.

While going out and buying an Apple Mac Mini will not happen any time soon considering I just got back from a major trip and need to catch up on bills.  I am now using my PC laptop as my main computer.

Which explains why I haven’t posted on my blog in the past two days.  I’m having to figure out what alternatives or what choices I have beyond the main software that I use on my Mac but what choices I have on the PC.

So, please bare with me…it’ll take me a while to figure out which software needs to be installed.

But overall, everything is all good!
