I have to say that I was quite surprised by Bandai Namco’s announcement that J-World Tokyo in Ikebukuro will be closing down on February 17th.
Beginning on December 21st through February 17th, J-World Tokyo will be hosting it’s “Grand Finale Event”.
I covered my visit to the popular anime/manga indoor theme park back in 2016 here and here.
I felt that J-World Tokyo was a wonderful addition to Ikebukuro, as the area has become like secondary to Akihabara for a major anime/manga destination in Tokyo (Note: The location is popular for female fans for “Otome Road”), with the Animate headquarters in the area and many shops, as well as the huge Ikebukuro Cosplay Halloween event and other cosplay events located in the area.
Having the indoor theme park with locations dedicated to “Dragon Ball Z”, “One Piece”, “Naruto”, “Hunter x Hunter”, “Kuroko’s Basketball”, “Haikyu!”, “Bleach”, “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventures”, “Blue Demon” and more, was quite awesome!
So, if you happen to be in the area, definitely visit J-WORLD TOKYO for its Grand Finale!
