The One about Mount Takao in Hachioji Part 2 – On the Way to Kiyotaki Station

The One about Mount Takao in Hachioji Part 1 – Arriving at Takaosanguchi Station

After leaving Takaosanguchi Station, now it’s time to walk to Kiyotaki Station.

The eight minute walk is rather interesting because the path to the station is filled with souvenir shops and restaurants.  So, if you want to eat before going up Mr. Takao, you have a choice by doing it around this path or when you reach midway to Mt. Takao.  You will also find a few restaurants, especially if you are hungry for ramen.

You will reach another signboard, that gives you more information on shops and sights to see prior to going to Mount Takao.  But once you walk along the path, a lot of the confectionary shops are primarily selling crackers or sweets, but there are souvenirs that can be purchased.

While there are a lot of shops to visit, I recommend checking out the historical landmark, Osoji Kozo.  There are a lot of things that could be said about this historical landmark but primarily, people say it’s a landmark that refrains from people from littering.

The statue looks like a person cleaning/sweeping and the statue monitors people to make sure they don’t litter.

Just a few feet away, there are two Buddhist temples nearby.  The first is Ton Tonjyou.  I wasn’t able to find much information but it’s not a temple but more of a statue with prayer area.

The other you will see is Takaosan Betsuin Fudoin Buddhist Temple several feet past the Ton Ton Jizo location.

For part 3, we will take a look at Kiyotaki Station and will discuss the choice between the two lifts that will take people to the base of Mount Takao.
