In Japan, Dorayaki is a popular Japanese confection that is said to have been invented in 1914 by Usagiya in Ueno.
Featuring two small pancakes with sweet Azuki-red bean paste, dorayaki is popular among Japanese. In the Kansai area, some may know this as Mikasa.
But what if you add ice cream to dorayaki?
That is what Surugaya in Kamakura is known for.
Right next to Hase Station, Surugaya has a lot of dorayaki offerings, I went for the dorayaki ice cream which is your typical dorayaki but with vanilla ice cream and matcha sauce, but they also offer matcha ice cream as well.
But you may need to wait in line as the place can get packed with people wanting to try dorayaki or the soft cream.
In the mood for dorayaki? Definitely give Kamakura’s Surugaya a chance!
