The One about the BLACK+DECKER BEHT 200 vs. BEHTS 125 Hedge Trimmer

I had a chance to use the BLACK & DECKER BEHT200 and also the BEHTS 125 Hedge Trimmer.

I know there are people who want to know which works best for them, so here is my opinion.

BEHT200
+ 18 inch Dual-Action Hardened Steel Black
+ 3.5 amp motor for trimming branches up to 3/4 inches
+ Has a full wrap-around Front Handle, protection plate and protection + cord retention

vs.

BEHT125
+ 16 inch Dual-Action Hardened Steel Black
+ 3.0 amp motor for trimming branches up to 5/8 inches
+ Has a Sawblade on top
+ Protection Plate Cord Retention and built in-T Handle

I was cutting a bush, branches from my olive tree to our neighbor’s wisteria branches going over our fence.

I had to cut a few things and decided to give both a try and learned that the BEHTS125 did not provide great sawing with the sawblade. I just didn’t feel it was as effective. While it did well with trimming bushes, I felt there was not enough juice with the 3.0 amp motor to get the job done.

Switched to the BEHT200 and I felt the extra .5 amp for the motor really made a big difference. I was going through the wisteria branches with no difficulty. And what would take me a few hours, I was able to get things done for less than an hour using the BEHT200.

I like the added protection of the plate and having the full-wrap around handle versus the T-handle of the 125. It was more comfortable and easier to hold.

Both are similar but have significant differences and they are both $39.99.

If you had to choose between the two, definitely go for the BEHT200. While the sawblade on top is very enticing for the BEHTS125, it was not as effective that I was hoping it to be. Also, that 3.5 amp makes a difference over the 3.0 amp motor.
