It’s almost Christmas, and Belle has to leave her California hometown behind to head up north on business. The auction house Belle works for must catalog the estate sale of a large mansion. Her client, Hunter Lowell, is rumored to have a sharp tongue and a hot temper. Belle gets to work, and while the job is a dream, the client is not. But as Belle and Hunter spend more time together, his icy demeanor begins to melt. They grow close fast, but things get complicated when Belle’s long-time suitor Tony shows up, sending Hunter the wrong signals. It’s definitely going to be an interesting Christmas, but what will the New Year bring?
For day 43, I am checking out a holiday telefilm which was streamed on various platforms, “Christmas Belle”.
At the same time, I am starting to take notice of the entertainment company MarVista Entertainment, which produces a lot of holiday films over the years. And instead of watching all Hallmark and Lifetime Television, I wanted to give other networks and other companies a chance this holiday season.
And watching several films from MarVista Entertainment, I’ve been enjoying what I have seen so far.
This one is an older film, way back in 2013, but I like Haylie Duff and wanted to catch a Christmas film featuring her and sure enough, it was being offered as free viewing on VUDU.
The film is directed by Alex Wright (“Hope at Christmas”, “The Mistletoe Inn”) and directed by Joany Kane (“The Christmas Card”, “A Kiss for Christmas” and was originally shown on ION Television (A family oriented network formerly known as Pax TV).
The film stars Haylie Duff (“Napoleon Dynamite”, “7th Heaven”, “Material Girls”), Nicholas Gonzales (“The Good Doctor”, “Narcos”, “Resurrection Blvd.”), Mark Famiglietti (“Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines”, “Mad Men”), C. Thomas Howell (“The Outsiders”, “Criminal Minds”, “E.T. the Extra Terrestrial”), Sheree J. Wilson (“Walker, Texas Ranger”, “Dallas”) and Jerry Hauck (“MAtchstick Men”, “Saving Mr. Banks”, “The Attic Expeditions”).
The telefilm is about Isabella (portrayed by Haylie Duff) and her father Rex (portrayed by C. Thomas Howell) running a business together and while her dreams are to run a rare books business, she is doing whatever she can to help her father. Meanwhile, childhood friend Tony (portrayed by Mark Famiglietti) is persistent in trying to make Isabella his girlfriend.
Isabella and Rex get a major business project and that is to catalog the estate sale of a large mansion, but the owner, Hunter Lowell (portrayed by Nicholas Gonzalez) is supposedly a person with a hot temper and is not at all nice.
And when Isabella hears from the property manager Angie (portrayed by Sheree J. Wilson), Isabella needs to do her job and catalogue and photograph everything, despite a warning to not going into one room, she does anyway, because it would definitely improve the sales of the home.
Which leads to Hunter going off on her to the point that Isabella was going to quit.
For Hunter, the pain of living at the home which brings him painful memories of loss of family is too much to bear but he apologizes and they start anew. And while they spend more time together, Hunter and Isabella’s working relationship starts to bring them closer and both are attracted to each other.
For the most part, this was a very fun holiday telefilm. It does have its share of cheesy moments but for the most part, I was entertained.
Haylie Duff and Nicholas Gonzalez have good chemistry and for those who grew up watching C. Thomas Howell, who was a popular teen in popular ’80s films, it was interesting to see him now playing the character of Isabella’s father.
But a solid holiday film that will entertain those seeking for romantic holiday telefilms! It’s an oldie but goodie… Check it out!
