Starring Erika Prevost. A magical Christmas wish makes June say ‘Yes’ to every invitation while she’s home for the holidays. When an old flame joins her hectic schedule, past feelings are reignited.
It’s already day 42 and a week away from Christmas.
For today’s film, I am checking out “Saying Yes to Christmas” which was directed by Graeme Campbell (“Instant Star”, The Legend of Wolf Lodge”) and written by John Dion (“The Eleventh”, “Hint of Love”).
The film stars Erika Prevost (“Dare Me”, “Polaroid”), Romaine Waite (“The Clark Sisters: First Ladies of Gospel”, “Star Trek: Discovery”, “Frankie Drake Mysteries”), Zoe Doyle (“Repo Men”, “The Silence”), Sabrina Grdevich (“A.I. Artificial Intelligence”, “Traders”), Howard Hoover (“Repo Men”, “Murder at 1600”, “A Simple Flavor”), Catherine De Seve (“The Handmaid’s Tail”, “Le Sketch Show”, “Quantico”), Glen Michael Grant (“Chaos Walking”, “The State Within”), Vania Giusto (“The Boys”) and more.
This film revolves around June Kingsley (portrayed by Erika Prevost) who is hoping to get a promotion for an editor position at a book firm that she works for. Her boss Shannon Snyder (portrayed by Sabrina Grdevich is very demanding) and when June shows her a holiday book, without the snow, which she believes would be a hit, her boss gets upset.
But with news that popular author Sally Wells (portrayed by Catherine De Seve) is looking for a book company and heading to June’s hometown for Christmas, she allows June to return home with the primary goal of signing Sally to their company.
Of course, June would love to see her family again (as she hasn’t been back home during the holidays due to work), with her mom Gayle (portrayed by Zoe Doyle) and her father Ted (portrayed by Howard Hoover), but she also runs into her childhood friend, Blake Harris (portrayed by Romaine Waite).
And while the two are hanging out, they play a game and if they succeed, their wish would come true and for Blake, he wishes that June would say “yes” to Christmas, as she is always busy.
And sure enough, the wish comes true and if anyone asks her anything Christmas-related, she automatically says yes, which literally makes her schedule while at home even more full, as she is volunteering for Blake’s charity, helping many people despite her schedule being busy, as she is focusing on trying to get Sally signed.
But everyone knows that June is a workaholic and would like her to be happy and doing something that she wants to do for the holidays, despite her busy worklife.
As I watched this film, in a way, it reminded me a lot of myself. I always had to meet deadlines prior to the holidays that I was often working all the time and not being able to be there for my family. So, I know how that is.
But what I enjoyed about “Saying Yes to Christmas” is the chemistry between actress Erika Prevost and Romaine Waite. They really clicked! And made this holiday telefilm even more enjoyable.
I also liked seeing the use of Japanese culture passed down to generations and seeing everyone enjoying it for the holiday. I did the same back several years ago and it was a new and also fun experience.
Overall, I really enjoyed “Saying Yes to Christmas” and I recommend this 2021 film as one you should definitely check out for the holidays!
