If you are a K-Pop fan, you probably saw it on television, on Youtube and that is the popular cheese hot dog.
While some places use the word hot dog, it’s more like a corn dog, but instead of a hot dog, it’s pretty much a mozarella stick that’s melted inside. So, once you bite into it, you are left with melted, mozzarella cheese that stretches out. Many people describe eating a Korean cheese hot dog as being heavenly.
There is a video of IZ*ONE’s J-Line (Japanese members) Miyawaki Sakura, Yabuki Nako and Honda Hitomi in Korea purchasing cheese hot dogs (and also other varieties) for their fellow IZ*ONE members and eating together with them.
While I didn’t go to South Korea (my brother did), I went to Japan and sure enough, the popular Korean cheese hot dog can be found in Shibuya and Harajuku’s Takeshita Street.
But although you will see a line of people wanting to get on the trend (or people who simply love them), fortunately the lines don’t take too long as the food doesn’t take too long to prepare.
You can choose between the cheese hot dog, sausage and cheese hot dog or potato and cheese hot dog.
I decided to go with the potato and cheese (Note: In Japan, french fries is called “potato”).
And so I tried it and as one can expect, biting into a cheese hot dog, mozzarella cheese stretches out and it’s good. But is it Y500 good? That’s quite subjective.
But for me, it was on my bucketlist for things to try and glad I finally did it!
