I have been looking for a digital fishing scale with a lip gripper, not one that is actually a luggage scale but called a digital fishing scale. And so I got the KastKing Weighmaster Mechanical-Digital Fishing Scale with Lip Gripper.
For the most part, I have used digital luggage scales with the straps that work perfectly for that, but for a fishing scale, you need one with a lip gripper. And in 2026 (and forward from here on), you need one that can be charged via USB-C thanks to its built in 300mAh battery that delivers 20+ hours runtime. No more AAA or AA batteries!
The thing is that KastKing does sell many types of scales but if you want that lip gripper, they sell it for $6 more for the attachment. And this version comes with a fish lip gripper that can hold up to 120 lb./55kg without harming your fish.
And what I like about this version is that it comes with a water temperature sensor (which can be changed from Fahrenheit to Celsius if needed) and a built-in measuring tape. Also, it’s a floating digital weight scale, so that means it’s IPX6 water proof. Note: KastKing said this is not to be submerged but protects from rain and splashes. And it also comes with an integrated measuring tape!!! Way easier to read than the fish gripper devices that has its own weight scale.
The other reason why I got this is that it’s built tough and can take a drop if it slipped out of my hands. But truthfully, it’s been rugged device and worth owning.
It also has an anti-glare screen and a larger display. There is also a high-contrast back-lit display that you can turn on as well.
Just remember though, like any digital scale, make sure to zero it out first. Make sure it shows zero before attaching your fish to it. Also, get used to the fish lip gripper as it’s not like your standard fish lip gripper that is spring controlled. This one is about manual controlling, so the fish’s lips aren’t damaged.
So, if you are deciding to go with the $17 version or the $28 version or this version at around $34, I really recommend spending the extra money for something more durable, rechargeable that has other functions that makes your fishing experience much better with useful tools!
