The JR Tadami Line, which had suspended service on some sections due to snow, has resumed full service after approximately two months. JR Tadami Station in Tadami Town, Fukushima Prefecture. A lot of snow still remains in the area.
Service had been suspended on the section beyond this point that connects to Niigata. The section between Tadami Station and Ooshirakawa Station in Niigata Prefecture, which had suspended service since January 29, 2026, due to heavy snow and other factors, resumed full service on April 7, after approximately two months. A female passenger said, “I’m so glad. There’s nothing we can do against nature like that, so we had no choice but to give up.”
Noriko Meguro, head of tourism planning at the Tadami Town Tourism Association, said, “I’m so happy. It finally feels like spring has come to Tadami. The DC (Destination Campaign) has also started, so we have to work hard (on tourism). We will do our best.”
According to the Tadami Town Tourism Association, the number of tourists had decreased by about 30% due to the suspension of service, but with the resumption of service as a tailwind, Tadami Town is looking forward to the spring tourist season.
