The One about Hello Kitty Shinkansen to retire…

The Hello Kitty Shinkansen, which will cease operations in May 2026, held its final event at JR Shin-Shimonoseki Station in Yamaguchi Prefecture, attracting many fans. Approximately eight years have passed since it began operation in 2018.

This Shinkansen, which has gained popularity for its cute design and special interior decorations, has been retired due to the aging of its base vehicle, the 500 series. This event was truly a “special event to celebrate its finale.” On the day, there was a live music performance inside the train, as well as many other events for visitors to enjoy, such as a raffle. Furthermore, popular characters appeared, livening up the venue and filling the air with smiles from children to adults.

Many people said things like, “I was so happy to see them,” and “It was the best memory,” creating a warm atmosphere befitting the finale. The One Piece Shinkansen also stopped at the venue at the same time, resulting in a rare side-by-side sight. It was a moment that railway fans could not miss. The final day of operation was May 17th. The beloved and special Shinkansen is finally ending its service. Please watch the video to see its final appearance. Broadcast on March 29, 2026
