The One about the R36MAX Retro Handheld Game Console with 64G Built-in and 18000+ Classic Games

In 2024, the R35XX surprised many gamers with its ability to play many modern games. While it wasn’t the most difficult console to use (especially for its small stature and terrible memory card that it came with), but in 2025, the new R36MAX Retro Handheld Game Console is much better than its older console brother in the fact that it’s larger, comes with a memory card that works and also comes with over 18,000+ games.

Featuring a handheld with an open source Linux system (running on Arcade Planet ver 99.2), the R36MAX Retro Handheld Game Console features a power button on the left, a reset button to get to the main screen on the right.

The device is charged via USB-C and comes with four buttons on the rear.

The front features two joysticks, select, start and a joystick right in the center. Along with the directional pad and four buttons.

The larger size makes it easier to hold and a bit more comfortable on the hands vs. the 35XX.

The screen features a 4-inch IPS screen with a resolution of 720×720. The device also comes with a 4,000 mAh battery for six hours of gameplay. There is also a 3.5mm jack for those who want to wear headphones.

But the big difference is the amount of games. The 35XX had about 5500+ games, the R36MAX has about 18,543 games to be exact. This is the 64GB version, I am not sure if the 128GB has more.

But the breakdown looks like this:

MAME – 1708 games
ATARI – 31 games
PC ENGINE – 359 games
FAMICOM – 1634 games
SUPER FAMICOM – 3970 games
NES – 498 games
SNES – 1331 games
Nintendo 64 – 181 games
Game Boy – 3670 games
Game Boy Color – 2097 games
Game Boy Advance – 1080 games
Nintendo DS – 28 games
SG-1000 – 68 games
Sega Mega Drive – 1218 games
Sega 32X – 21 games
Sega Dreamcast – 5 games
Game Gear – 261 games
SNK Neo Geo – 187 games
Neo Geo Rocket – 46 games
Sony PlayStation – 23 games
Sony PSP – 27 games
Amstrad CPC – 27 games
Capcom CPS-1 – 32 games
Capcom CPS-2 – 37 games
Capcom CPS -3 4 games

The console also comes with a carrying case, USB-C charging cable, glass protector and the 64GB is pre-installed.

Overall, these retro game consoles keep getting in better. It’s hard to imagine a few years ago, all we saw were 8GB games and here we are with these consoles now featuring 32GB and 64GB games and higher. And who knows what will come next year, because the R36MAX is such a major improvement over the 35XX in just a year’s time.

The console is about $99.99 but there is a $30 coupon making it $69.99. So, it’s a pretty awesome deal if you want a retro game console with a huge amount of games.

The R36MAX Retro Handheld Game Console with 64G Built-in and 18000+ Classic Games is highly recommended!
