Stream control decks have become popular as it makes one’s work much more efficient, which leads me to the SOOMFON Steam Control Deck.
So, how this works is that you get 15 macro keys on this device per page (there are a total of six pages). You can program each Macro key to do things like open a website, open an app or put shortcuts for software like OBS, ZOOM, Photoshop, Adobe Premiere and more!
In the past, one would program macro keys on their keyboard or their mouse, but to have a Stream Control Deck, it makes it much easier!
The device comes with the main control deck, USB-C to USB-A cable and a stand for the control deck.
While it says do not plug into a port replicator/docking station, because most laptops tend to have 1 to a few USB ports these days, I tested this on a POWERED Port Replicator, so I know there would be enough power.
What you want to do after you connect everything and plug it in is to download the SOOMFON Stream Control Deck software.
NOTE: There is a website that tells you to visit a certain site and as some reviewers wrote, it’s in Chinese. I downloaded straight from the website and the application was in English.
The first thing I would do is put the back/forward arrows on one of the macros for each page. This is because if you accidentally go to a page, you won’t be able to go back or forward, so make sure to add those keys to each page. For me, I put the arrows on the bottom corners.
Then I would plan out how you would utilize each page, such as I make one page for OBS commands, page 2 of applications I tend to use the most, page 3 featuring websites and social media that I visit the most.
You can then download icons (ie. neon, comic book style, metallic, etc.) from various sets and also add plugin shortcuts (which three can fit in the one vertical strip on the right).
But there are so many programmable buttons to configure that it makes it worth your while, especially if you are streaming live, do a lot of audio, video or photo editing or software applications and more!
But overall, I found the SOOMFON Stream Control Deck worth owning for the fact that it makes your life so much easier if you work with Macros. While many of us got used to customized buttons on our keyboards, having this device makes it so much easier and convenient.
The SOOMFON Stream Control Deck is easy to use and definitely recommended!
