The One about the Haute42 Arcade Stick Hautepad P12, All-Button Arcade Controller for Switch, PC, PS4, PS3,

I was a bit skeptical about utilizing the Haute42 Arcade Stick Hautepad P12, All-Button Arcade Controller for Switch, PC, PS4 and PS3.

For one, how can I play games that I usually play with a joystick (and I mean joy stick with the knob) that is all-buttons. Sounds weird.

While I wasn’t sure if I can have success with a shmup or rhythm game, I decided to put the Haute42 Arcade Stick Hautepad P12, All-Button Arcade Controller for a major test and that is through a fighting game. I chose “Street Fighter III: Third Strike” (from “Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection International”) for the Nintendo Switch.

Getting the Switch to detect it required some looking up on the Internet. Plug in the USB to a switch dock and then leave your finger on the following button for several seconds. For the Nintendo Switch, I held down the A button (B is for Xinput, X is for PS3/Dinput, Y is for PS4 and RT for Keyboard mode).

But eventually, the Switch detected it and then I started to use it to fight.

It was awkward at first, as I’m not use to using buttons for directional use on an arcade stick/arcade controller but I was pulling of Shoryuken, Hadouken and Tatsumaki Sepnukyaku with ease and I was winning.

But I eventually beat the game’s final boss but I felt my fingers were getting things down, although the other part of my brain was trying to figure out, how am I doing this? So, surreal!

But I was able to use the characters with no issues but it does take time getting used to but somehow, it makes it easy.

If I do have one major advice, make sure that you can place the joypad in a desk that is comfortable for you and that hopefully is ergonomically positioned. I was playing on my desk which is not ergonomic, so my wrist was hurting after long playtimes with it. But that’s not the problem of the pad itself, its how your desk and play area is.

As for the Hautepad P12, it’s pretty cool because the buttons are nice and big, with LED lights around the buttons (RGB LED Setting can be done by holding BACK + START + button).

You can also do other functions such as holding down BACK + START + DOWN for D-Pad or BACK + START + LEFT to Emulate Left Analog Stick and BACK + START + RIGHT to Emulate Right Analog Stick.

You can also set Invert D-Pad Y-Axis by holding HOME + START + RIGHT.

As well as SOCD (Simultaenous Opposite Cardinal Direction) mode.

For PC, there is a web configurator which you can access by holding START when plugging your controller into the PC.

For TURBO, just hold down TURBO and press the button you want to set for Turbo function.

Overall, the Haute42 Arcade Stick Hautepad P12 may not make sense by looking at it. But once you start playing on it, you realize how awesome it is! I really enjoyed playing with it, but again….position and how high is important, otherwise try not to strain your wrist by having good position and doing ergo stretching.
