For day 42, today’s film is a Hallmark holiday film titled “Welcome to Christmas”.
A film directed by Gary Harvey (“Robson Arms”, “Arctic Air”, “Murdoch Mysteries”) and written by Rick Garman which is based on the novel “The Trouble with Christmas” by Debbie Mason.
The film stars Eric Mabius (“Resident Evil”, “Cruel Intentions”, “The Crow: Salvation”, “Ugly Betty”) and Jennifer Finnigan (“Salvation”, “Close to Home”, “Tyrant”, “Moonshine”), Susan Hogan (“The Buttefly Effect 2”, “Disturbing Behavior”, “The Brood”), Lauren McNamara (“Aliens Ate My Homework”, “Aliens Stole My Body”), Payton Lipinski (“Overboard”, “V for Vengeance”), Sarah Edmondson (“Salvation”, “Max Steel”) and more.
The film is set in the small town of Christmas, Colorado and the town is hoping to make the place a true Christmas destination by enticing a ski resort developer to invest in their town (which would lead to more jobs, more business, etc.) and the film focuses on sheriff and widower Gage (portrayed by Eric Mabius) who takes care of his two daughters Annie (portrayed by Lauren McNamara) and Lily (portrayed by Payton Lepinski). All three have a hard time since the mother has passed away.
But Gage’s mother Nell (portrayed by Susan Hogan) is spearheading the town’s Christmas efforts to convince the developer to build a ski resort in their town.
Meanwhile, Madison (portrayed by Jennifer Finnigan) is Harrison Enterprises’ prized employee who has setup ski resorts in many locations and now she is wanting to create one at Mountain Park (not far from Christmas, Colorado). The other alternative as raised by a co-worker is the town of Christmas which offers more tax incentives and the land is significantly cheaper.
Madison is deadset on Mountain Park because it’s a thriving area that has malls, shopping destinations, restaurants but when her co-worker asks if she ever visited Christmas and he pleads to Joe Harrison (portrayed by Michael Kopsa), owner of the company due to the financial aspects of Christmas, Colorado.
So, Joe requests for Madison to visit Christmas, Colorado and do her due diligence and come up with a conclusion before the holidays.
As for Madison, she ends up swirving into the “Welcome to Christmas, Colorado” sign and Gage is the first one on the scene. As they are expecting Madison, he and the towns locals are on an effort to convince Madison to bring a ski resort to town.
Madison is deadset on Mountain Park, but the longer she stays in Christmas, she becomes closer to Gage’s family, include him and his daughters and the town. Will she have a change in heart and consider Christmas, Colorado for a Christmas resort?
Watching “Welcome to Christmas”, this is the second holiday film which I have seen starring her next to the 2015 film “Angel of Christmas”. And it’s also my favorite between the two.
The production of this film features a higher production and for the most part, I found this film quite entertaining and capturing the holiday spirit.
As a Hallmark film, as always, it captures the romantic element but the Christmas atmosphere with full efficacy and for the most part, I enjoyed this film a lot.
