When Angie’s parents, Vic and Emilina, visit for Christmas, George thinks they still believe he’s not good enough for their daughter. But George shows he can take care of his family without their help and battles with Vic for the best Christmas.
As I wait for more holiday films to be made available and easily accessible (as I am reviewing this in advance), I am going to review a few Christmas TV episodes for now.
A Christmas episode that I am reviewing is from “George Lopez” season two, episode 11 titled “Meet the Cuban Parents”.
Back in the 2000s and possibly even the ’90s, ABC had always dominated Friday night prime time with their sitcoms. And from (2002-2005), “George Lopez” was one of the popular shows on television. Unfortunately, for some reason, ABC didn’t renew the show and renewed others that many people will not remember.
Fortunately, “George Lopez” lives on streaming and those catching reruns on television via syndication but I felt shocked at the time that the show was canceled, considering it performed well, even if it had to go against “American Idol” at the time. It provided the alternative.
For me, it provided me the sake of sanity during the time of working a corporate job and came home for something to laugh and enjoy, and get away from the stress of work and family life.
For this very episode, George’s wife Angie (portrayed by Constance Marie) reveals that her parents Vic (portrayed by Emiliano Diez) and Emilina (portrayed by Sonia Braga) will be coming to visit for Christmas for the week.
George stresses out about this because he feels that her father looks down on him and that he was not good enough for his daughter.
And so George wants to prove him wrong and that is by going all out in Christmas.
For the most part, this was an entertaining episode that I remember quite well. Especially George going all out with the Christmas decorations and while in his mind, it was awesome. Everyone else was “why did you waste your money on this?”.
For the most part, I enjoyed this episode and if you enjoyed the show, definitely check out this 11th episode from the second season.
