The One about Day 41 of my Holiday Film Marathon for 2022: Girlfriends of Christmas Past (2016)

While created in a holiday telefilm structure without the commercial breaks, I did find “Girlfriends of Christmas Past” to be entertaining in its own way.  It’s a bit crazy and fun, but holiday telefilms, let alone holiday films in general are never perfect.  If you are wanting a fun holiday popcorn film, definitely give “Girlfriends of Christmas Past” a chance!

This Christmas three women plot revenge on the guy who cruelly dumped them all. But will vengeance be worth risking a chance at new love?

For day 41, I am watching a holiday telefilm which was released on streaming platforms back in 2016. The film is titled “Girlfriends of Christmas Past” courtesy of MarVista Entertainment and the film was written and directed by Jake Helgren (“Dashing in December”, “A Royal Runaway Romance”).

The film stars Tammin Sursok (“Pretty Little Liars”), Brent Bailey (“Doom Patrol”, “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”, “Emma Approved”), Lindsey McKeon (“Saved by the Bell: The New class”, “Supernatural”), Abigail Klein (“Transformers: Age of Extingction”, “Days of Our Lives”), John Brotherton (“Fuler House”, “Guardians of the Galaxy”), Megan Holder (“Pitch”) and Chris Salvatore (“Eating Out” films).

“Girlfriends of Christmas Past” revolves around one woman’s revenge to get back at her cheating boyfriend who left her before Christmas.

Livvy Beal (portrayed by Tammin Sursok) is a young woman who owns her own catering business with her gay assistant Tyler (portrayed by Chris Salvatore) and is dating the man of her dreams, Anderson Whitmire (portrayed by Joyhn Brotherton), a software app business owner.

All was good, so Livvy thought.  But on the day she brings her boyfriend to meet her family and the family thinking that he will be proposing to her, Anderson dumps her.

Needless to say, for Livvy, this was absolutely devastating.

One night, while she and Tyler were catering for a party, Tyler sees Anderson with another woman, which Livvy then sees and she is now upset and very angry.

Tyler tells her to go to a website, rateex.com to post her thoughts on her cheating boyfriend and she can check to see if he had cheated on other women.

Livvy finds two other women which Anderson has dumped, who had posted on the site.  But instead of posting on the website, she contacts the two women: Murphy McCall (portrayed by Lindsey McKeon) and Zoe Swann (portrayed by Abigail Klein).

And the three women decide to get their revenge on Anderson, so he would not hurt another woman again.

But as Livvy sneaks into Anderson’s office by pretending she is dropping off flowers to him, she goes to his office which is occupied by employee Carter Bolton (portrayed by Brent Bailey) and instead of Anderson getting the flowers, Carter thinks its for him.

And needing a caterer for their holiday party, he tells Livvy that he would like her to cater for the company (which is owned by her ex, Anderson), but tries to keep everything downlow.

Meanwhile, how far will Livvy, Murphy and Zoe go to get revenge on Anderson?

The film is no doubt a spin on “Ghosts of Christmas Past” but instead of anything imaginary, we have three women who are wanting to get revenge.  But are they doing the right thing?  Or are they blinded by revenge that they can’t see that what they are doing is over-the-top and crazy?

While created in a holiday telefilm structure without the commercial breaks, I did find “Girlfriends of Christmas Past” to be entertaining in its own way.  It’s a bit crazy and fun, but holiday telefilms, let alone holiday films in general are never perfect.  If you are wanting a fun holiday popcorn film, definitely give “Girlfriends of Christmas Past” a chance!
