“Let’s Torekatsu!,” a program where railway enthusiasts gather to engage in train activities late at night, will become a monthly regular program with a new look starting in April!
This new program will delve into the essence of railway vehicles, from the ever-popular JNR-era vehicles to the beloved retired classics and the latest vehicles! The memorable first episode will feature the battle to attract customers between Tobu Railway and JNR over Nikko: the 100 series Spacia vs. the 485 series.
Today, the Tohoku Main Line and Tobu Railway connect at Kurihashi, and direct trains run to Nikko and Kinugawa, but in the days of JNR, the predecessor of JR, they were not just providing connecting transport, but were engaged in a heated battle to attract customers over the tourist destination of Nikko. This program will delve into this historic battle in railway history, with guests who were involved at the time! We’ll also show the program’s familiar panoramic views of the 100 series Spacia and 485 series trains.
