The One about Henry Kapono’s new EP Henry’s House – Sunny Town Playlist 1

When it comes to legendary Hawaiian musicians that are still alive and performing today, Henry Kapono Ka’aihue (Henry Kapono) is one of the most well-known names.

One half of the popular Hawaiian pop music duo Cecilio & Kapono (aka “C and K”, alongside Cecilio David Rodriguez) which was formed back in 1973 and earned them the reputation of “Simon and Garfunkel of Hawai’i”.

Winner of 18 Na Hoku Hanohano Awards (Hawaii’s “Grammy” awards) which include “Male Vocalist of the Year”, “Song of the Year”, “Single of the Year”, “Album of the Year”, “Rock Album of the Year”, “Best EP”, to name a few.  In fact, the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles and the Hawaiian Convention Center paid tribute to the legacy of Henry’s Music in 2017.

He has been a well-known face to music lovers of Hawaiian music and tourists as he performs live at Duke’s Waikiki on Sundays as part of “Dukes on Sunday” (where he has performed every Sunday since 1994) which is streamed to everyone live on his Facebook page (every Sunday from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. HST).

But with the novel coronavirus affecting businesses, especially restaurants and live event locations such as Duke’s Waikiki, Henry and his band has been performing every Sunday from Henry’s House.

Henry Kapono’s new EP “Henry’s House – Sunny Town Playlist 1” (released on September 2020) is a six-track EP which is now available digitally for under $6.

One thing that I love about Henry’s music is how fun and energetic his songs are.

As a legendary music figure, it’s always awesome to see him performing and entertaining audiences. And still performing live on Sundays and giving viewers a chance to experience his performances through video streaming on his Facebook page.

The EP kicks off with “Little Grass Shack”.  A fun track with Henry and the band just jamming and having fun and even breaking out the kazoos.

Tracks such as “Beautiful Day”, “Sunny Town”, “Time Flies”, “You Babe” and “Sunshine Revival” is classic Henry, always positive and upbeat!

And the songs demonstrate his upbeat band members as all of them are getting into the music and you can easily tell these songs would be just as fun to see these songs performed live.

If anything, I’m biased towards Henry Kapono’s music, so it was a must-buy, especially for the price.  But overall, if you want energetic and upbeat music from the Hawaiian music legend and his awesome band, I recommend his latest EP “Henry’s House – Sunny Town Playlist 1”!  Check it out!
