If there is one surf brand that I have consistently worn since I was in high school, it’s Billabong.
Billabong is an Australian surf company which was founded in the Golden Coast, Queensland in 1973 by Gordon and Rena Merchant and the name is derived from the Wiradjuri (a group of Aboriginal Australian people) word “bilaban” (a creek that runs only during the rainy season).
Back then Gordon designed and created boardshorts at his home and sold them to local surf shops. Because of the triple stitching technique, surfers seeked the quality of these boardshorts and this would lead to the beginning of Billabong’s success.
The company owns many brands from Von Zipper, Element, Honolua Surf Company, Kustom, Palmers Surf, Xcel, Tigerlily, Sector 9 and RVCA.
In 2018, the company was acquired by Boardriders, Inc., which owns Quicksilver.
While my Billabong boardshorts tend to be more 20-21 outseam, the Billabong Sundays Mini Boardshort features a Lo Tides series which features a shorter cut and modern fit.
It has the look of a classic boardshort and the allover print boardshort has on-seam pockets.
The shorts feature a lasso waist with a full-waist drawcord for a customizable fit, features a breathable soft cotton and a vintage cotton with stretchable performance of polyester.
The patch pocket with velcro closure at the back right.
The shorts feature recycled pro stretch material and has good stretch with these boardshorts and has a water repellant coating for a light weight quick dry fabric which is 80% polyester/13% cotton and 7% elastane.
Overall, these BILLABONG Sundays Lo Tides Boardshorts are comfortable, cool and worth checking out!
