I have always heard about how straight razor has advantages compared to a traditional safety razors in that it is precise, reduces the risk of ingrown hairs and nicks and costs less as blades are inexpensive.
I decided to give urwunder’s Straight Razor a try. The handle features natural black wood and it’s quite easy to open up the blade.
I do recommend going on YouTube for instructions on how to install the blade and to watch tips on utilizing a straight razor.
The version I used was a Beardo, which is flat edged on the handle portion and it comes with five Gillette 7 o’clock Sharp Edge blades (there is a total of ten blades, but five in a package. Bend them while still in the paper (so you don’t cut yourself) which will snap them in two).
But the first thing to to is open up the razor when you bring the long arm out, separate them and place the blade in to lock them in place.
And the last thing I will say, before using a straight razor is know that there is no safety and that I highly recommend watching videos and know that doing a straight razor on your own especially in the beginning, chances of cutting yourself with the blade is high. Have that isopropyl alcohol ready if you are starting out. Remember to shave towards the direction of where your hair grows.
But overall, a solid straight razor. Easy to install the blades, easy to hold. So, if you are ready to experiment and try a straight razor or just looking for a straight razor that works, give the urwunder Straight Razor a try.
