I’ve been asked where people can purchase masks (surgical masks that many Japanese wear to avoid germs or to avoid spreading their cold germs to others) but are not as plain as the ones sold at convenience stores.
One such place is gonoturn which is located right at MAGNET by SHIBUYA 109.
For those not familiar with MAGNET by SHIBUYA 109, it’s right off the Shibuya Scramble, you can’t miss it! One of the big video screens (look for the red glico sign) you see on the Shibuya Scramble is where MAGNET by SHIBUYA 109 is located.
There is a lot of variety, may it be wearing a Doraemon mask, Marvel (ala Spider-Man, Iron Man, Captain America), Star Wars (R2-D2), Hello Kitty, Rilakkuma masks to the large number of cute animal masks that they have available.
Granted, these masks are not as cheap as a convenience store mask (which are typically white, black or gray) but I did get my camo mask at gonoturn which cost around Y1600 if I recall. While the others tend to go about Y1980-Y2200.

A lot of the masks are designed for girls/women but you’ll find a few for the guys as well! So, if you want to find a stylish or cute mask than the average white/black/gray masks from the convenience store, head to gonoturn!
