The One about the LEGO City Rocket Assembly & Transport 60229

For LEGO fans, when it comes to LEGO CITY releases, you tend to get used to (and become fans of) sets featuring logos such as anything with Octan (typically seen in racing or oil tankers), the LEGO CITY Arctic releases and the LEGO CITY space research sets.

Already, 2019 has brought us very cool LEGO CITY Space Mars Research releases such as the space shuttle, a space rover, a satellite service mission vehicle, a Space Lunar Space Station, even a Space Deep Space Rocket and Launch Control.

And so much has improved for the 2019 releases when compared to the 2012 releases especially in terms of detail.

The LEGO CITY Rocket Assembly & Transport (60229) is inspired by NASA Launch and Ground Systems. This set features 1,055 pieces and is for 7+ and older.

Now, what makes this set worth owning?

For one, you get a multi-stage rocket and along that, you get a transport crawler with launch pad, you get a truck with a grappling arm, a rover, a rover lab and more.

Along with that you get a total of seven LEGO CITY minifigures. Two astronauts, two ground crew technicians, a launch director, a scientist, a lab mechanic and a robot figure. For me, the scientist figure and launch director caught my eye.

The set doesn’t take soi long to put together because they use slightly bigger parts and the vehicles are not too difficult to put together either.

I’ve never seen a LEGO space set this elaborate.

With that being said, I felt in terms of having a rocket launch made sense with the LEGO CITY Space Center (3368) from 2011 that had its own control center and had a cool satellite array and a launch that made sense, this one, I think…why launch a rocket next to another vehicle?

Of course, that’s the adult in me, overthinking things. But for the most part, it’s still an awesome set when you consider cost per brick, the number of vehicles, the number of LEGO minifigures. You are no doubt getting more for your buck!

Overall, this is simply a wonderful release in the LEGO CITY space line. And a set that both parents and child can work together and isn’t too difficult.

A great present, a great gift, definitely recommended!
