The One about MARK & LONA

People who know me, often see me sporting MARK & LONA.

So, what is MARK & LONA?

Back in 2007, Luxury golf-oriented brands started appearing in the United States and was sold in high-end boutiques such as Fred Segal.

MARK & LONA is a brand that has collaborated with many high-end stores and other brands to produce awesome, fresh MARK & LONA luxury fashion.

And the concept is Japanese, as it goes beyond traditional golf style clothing by adding preppy, punk, marine and other fashion elements and becoming a next generation sportswear line.

Every detail, from fabrics to prints and accessories are designed and planned in Tokyo, thus giving MARK & LONA a Japanese identity.  And the company uses highly functional materials produced by the company and utilizing three-dimensional draping.

But who are the names behind MARK & LONA?  To tell the truth, I looked into it and not sure who it maybe, but the website said the company is named after MARK, a wealthy, famous entrepreneur who travels around the world and LONA, a popular make-up artist for Hollywood actresses.  And the brand captures the elegance of life of these two jetsetters playing golf on the hills of Chateau Marmont.

So, when wearing MARK & LONA, it’s fresh enough to wear outside of the golf course and in Japan, it helps when you have superstar, Kimura Takuya (KimuTaku – NOTE: Takuya Kimura in U.S. naming convention) as the face of MARK & LONA’s fashion line.

There are multiple stores throughout Japan, in Tokyo you can find it at Ginza Six, Omotesando Hills, Roppongi Hills.  In Osaka,at the Daimaru Umeda store, Hankyu Umeda store and Daimaru Shinsaibashi.  In Nagoya at the Matsuzayaka store and Fukuoka Iwataya store in Fukuoka. There is a store also in Hokkaido at the Daimaru Sapporo.

And overseas, they have a flagship store in Hawaii Ala Moana and several in South Korea.

With that being said, MARK AND LONA is the most expensive brand I have purchased in Japan, even surpassing prices at A BATHING APE stores.  It’s a high-end luxury brand, so you can expect to pay more (for example, a hat costs more than $120-$150 US).

With the hat I purchased, I loved the colors but thought it was cool that under the rim, is a skeleton golfer and the golf ball looks like a diamond (actual small gem under the rim).

So, if you are ever in Japan (or South Korea or Hawaii) and are looking for a cool, fresh fashion brand and are willing to pay a more for the quality, definitely give MARK & LONA a try!
