Back in June 8, 2011, Sarutahiko Coffee established their first coffee shop in Ebisu.
The original concept was to have a coffee shop that serves a cup of happiness. Since them, multiple shops have opened and even is included in Beams Japan’s Shinjuku store. But also expanding to Taiwan.
While the three Ebisu stores offer a lot, the shop I visited was not the original but the Omotesando branch which opened back in October 6, 2015.
The location is shared with H.I.S. Travel (who I do business with to get my tickets when I go to Japan) and the primary concept is a store where you can drink coffee and read a book.
The store overs drip/pour ala original, single origin and decaf under Y550. One can order a caffe latte, cappuccino, Americano, Espresso all under Y500.
And there are also arrangement drinks such as the cafe mocha, honey latte, raw caramel latte with red grape and cocoa. And for the children, there is children’s coffee milk, milk and Mandarin orange juice.
And certain shops like the Chofu, Sengawa and other areas offer different things to eat. For example, the Chofu shop also offers Kongi’s hot dog, Kotaro’s hot cakes (pancakes), Kotaro’s special hot cakes, Tikitaka ice cream, Affogato.
While the Sengawa shop has a variety of sandwiches and baguette. Also, muffins, cakes and baked goods.
Suffice to say the space is quite small,, with the the drink menu and ability to purchase coffee beans, while across is the H.I.S. Travel agency.
But it’s actually quite amazing of how much the coffee shop has grown and how each of them are similar but yet are very different.
For the most part, Sarutahiko serves quality coffee. While I only had the latte and the Omotesando location is straight up coffee, I did enjoy it enough that I want to try the Ebisu location next!
But if you happen to be in the Omotesando area, which has a plethora of quality coffee shops, definitely add Sarutahiko Coffee to your bucket list!
