The One about Inokashira Park in Kichijoji Part 3

Right near Inarijinja Shrine at Inokashira Park is the Inokashira Park Zoo (Aquatic Life Park).

This is a small zoo in the park which is primarily for the children and it’s more or less a petting zoo.  The zoo is great for kids to hold guinea pigs, an elephant, penguins, racoons and more.  One can also see various types of birds and there are 200 species showcased at the zoo.  But most importantly, it’s quite cheap.

One of the things you will notice at Inokashira Park are sections where remains of were found of pit houses and a pavement house.

Around the area are remains and relics from the medieval phase and more.

One will find monuments to Tokugawa Iemitsu and also a monument to the Gotenyama Stone Age Ruins.

Historically, it’s great to know the ruins exist but having been to several in Japan, when you hear about ruins, in your head, you think you will see  actual ruins but in Japan, most of the time, it’s just a field of grass indicating that is where certain relics were found.

While walking around, you’ll see the coolest dogs at Inokashira Park.  I was quite amazed of the different dogs I have seen, including dogs sporting denim…

While I wish I could check out Inokashira Park even more, I had to leave and head to my next destination several minutes away…

But for the most part, I do recommend Inokashira Park, if you love tranquil, yet cool parks that offer a lot of sightseeing in different seasons for the trees and so much more!  May it be the zoo, the shrine or experiencing a wonderful, lush park, definitely give Inokashira Park a visit!
