Back in November 2016, I was able to visit the “Imaginary Threats Approaching Major Cities” Exhibit for its final week at the Tokyo City View observation deck in Roppongi in Minato Ward.
Having reviewed many Kaiju films (giant monster, strange beasts) in my life, I felt the need to check out the exhibit after my visit of the Sky Deck at Tokyo City View.
Gamera was created by Daiei Films back in 1965 and was the rival to Toho’s Godzilla. And the kaiju monster would be known in the United States as a fixture of American television during Saturday afternoon through the ’70s.

The Millennium Gyaos on top of a thrashed up Tokyo Tower, There was no huge statue of Gyaos but still, this was really cool to see!
A statue of Queen Legion could be seen next to Irys.
I thought it was cool to see Irys, the main antagonist Kaiju from the third and final film of the Heisei Gamera trilogy, “Gamera 3: Revenge of Irys” and possibly the one standing statue that caught my eye.
But I have to admit that the best part of the entire exhibit for me was seeing the miniature 1/1000 scale diorama of the Tokyo cityscape.
