When it comes to American-style BBQ, finding it in Tokyo was never an easy thing until now.
With a Brooklyn-style, Good Barbeque is the go-to location for American-style BBQ and it’s located in the trendy Nakameguro area right near the overpass.
While you can expect to pay a lot for the restaurant’s BBQ menu offered in half (150g) or full (300g), this menu is for the true carnivore.
For those who just want sandwiches, will no doubt like what is offered for Y900-Y1360 such as the Classic Cheese, Cream Cheese Croquette & Angus Beef, Roast Beef & Angus Beef, Triple Mushroom Cheese & Pulled Pork, Good Barbeque, Pulled Pork & Coriander, Angus Roast Beef, Pulled Pork, Avocado Bacan and Beef Brisket double burgers.
When going inside, you are greeted by a waitress and seated. Meanwhile, old school American hip hop or R&B is being played in the background. I was pretty surprised by the overall decoir, pretty cool, western and with the music blazing in the background, it made the whole experience quite hip and cool!
Also, the place was clean and well-maintained! And I love the fact there are terrace seats (outdoor seats) but when I visited, it was way too cold to eat outside.
I went for the roast beef and angus beef burger, which was so savory and so good. Good amount of barbecue, delicious and to tell you the truth, I felt I could eat another (as Japanese burgers are not as big as American burgers) but I was good, as I met with a friend to talk and hang out at the restaurant for several hours.
But this restaurant is absolutely delicious and captured the smoky taste of the beef, the good amount of BBQ sauce. It was quite delicious!
I am not sure if you can request for a sandwich without the sauce, for those who prefer their sandwiches dry.
The restaurant also services many appetizers and desserts. The location offered free refills, which I was grateful to the waitress for being so accommodating.
I was also pleased that the location gave me the opportunity to take photos around the restaurant and also their cook/DJ. Man, this place is so hip and very convenient to eat at, be with friends or just to hang out and be with friends for great food and drinks!
I absolutely enjoyed my time at Good Barbeque in Nakameguro. It may not be as succulent as American southern-style or even southwest, as the restaurant is modeled after Brooklyn-style barbecue. But the fact that you get something so savory and delicious for a BBQ restaurant in Tokyo, it was much better than I expected.
I didn’t try the main course of the sirloin, brisket, Angus roast beef, pork belly, spare ribs, baby back ribs, chicken leg or homemade bacon, so unfortunately, I can’t comment on that.
But from the sandwiches alone, it definitely makes me want to come by again to try their main BBQ dishes!
