From Danish consumer electronics company, Bang & Olufsen (B&O) comes their Beoplay M5 Wireless Over-Ear Headphones.
I absolutely love the Bang & Olufsen Beoplay Wireless H4 headphones and wanting 360 sound in my home office, I couldn’t wait to try out the Bang & Olufsen Beoplay M5 True360 Multiroom Speaker.
Designed by award-winning Danish industrial designer Cecilie Manz, the top portion is crafted from pearl blasted aluminum. Press it and it turns the speaker on/off. You can also twist the top to turn the volume up/down. You can do a short press to join existing multi-room groups, so if you own multiple M5’s or other Beoplay multiroom devices (such as the Beoplay A6 and/or A9), you’re all ready to go. It’s fairly simple!
Setting up the speakers are quite easy, plug in the speaker to a power outlet. Press the power button and wait for the white lights to flash, once it turns orange, you can pair it to your device.
Really solid bass from the M5 with a front facing mid-range driver, powerful woofer. Place the speaker anywhere and you literally get solid simulated surround sound. But you can change sound settings (which includes various presets, especially where you place the M5) via the Beoplay app.
The M5 can also stream music up to 96KHz/24-bit lossless.
The wool cover are exchangeable specialized wool by Danish textile manufacturer Kvadrat. You can hook up multiple speakers together and it supports Google Cast, Beolink Multiroom Technologies, Bluetooth, Apple Airplay or DLNA. You can purchase the M5 in silver or black but supposedly there will be other colors for wool covers that will be made available.
While I do not have a Sonos or Naim speaker to compare, I will say that for those familiar with B&O products know they tend to be pricey. And for the speakers itself, you are paying for quality, style and design and there are other competitors that are much cheaper.
But if you are into Bang & Olufsen products, the Bang & Olufsen Beoplay M5 True360 Multiroom Speaker is an awesome speaker, easy to use and is worth the consideration and purchase!
