The One about Toho Studios in Setagaya

In Japan, Toho Studios is a famous studio known for the films of Akira Kurosawa, the anime films of Studio Ghibli and many classic Japanese films directed by auteurs such as Yasujiro Ozu, Kenji Mizoguchi, Miki Naruse, Masaki Kobayashi to name a few.

But the studio is also known for many kaiju and tokusatsu films, most popular is their creation known as Godzilla.

Once you are in the main entrance, you are greeted by the image of the characters of Akira Kurosawa’s “The Seven Samurai” and in the center is a statue of Godzilla with his tale creating an indentation on cement.

It’s important to note that Toho Studios is not open to the public.  So, while you can walk around outside and visit the studio, there are security stationed and employees who are allowed in to the building and structure.

This is a fully-functional film studio, so similar to areas in Los Angeles, you’ll need access to get into the lot.

But still, if you are a fan of Toho Studios films, visiting the Toho Studios location is a must!
