Having stayed at several hotels in the Long Beach area, this time I decided to stay at the Comfort Inn & Suites near Long Beach Convention Center.
What was surprising was it was located near where I lived in Long Beach as a teenager.
This simple budget hotel is 5.1 miles from the Long Beach Cruise Terminal, 4.5 miles from the Aquarium of the Pacific and 5.4 miles from California State University Long Beach. For us, the main purpose for staying was for a funeral at All Souls Mortuary (2 miles away) and we wanted a hotel that was the closest.
The hotel is not huge but has a good number of rooms to stay at for the most part, the front desk and parking area was convenient. The place was quiet and even on a cooler days, people were swimming in the pool.
Speaking of the pool… I don’t think I have ever seen a sign like this before.
As much as I thought it was cool they received high ratings from tripadvisor, typically signs like these, while a good warning does make things seem a bit “ewww…”. Did something happen at this pool? Regardless, while it was cool to see many people enjoying themselves at the pool this past week, I rather not swim.
The rooms were clean, you get free wifi, morning breakfast and I liked the fact that the bed had four pillows, the room had a fridge and the bathrooms were adequately supplied with towels, toiletries, soap, etc.
Price wasn’t too bad compared to the other hotels, they range from $138-$165 for a double bed which seems to be standard. Factor in tax and depending how many days you stay, price can be a bit higher but for those looking for affordable hotels, it’s not easy and you get what you pay for. Convenience and reviews played a big part of getting this hotel in that area of Long Beach.
I was told that the hotel is going through another renovation and will be named “The Cove” and from the looks of the location, it looks like it will be quite snazzy!
But overall, a satisfying stay at this hotel. All was convenient. Positive stay, clean hotel and solid customer service at a budget price!
