Some ways way before you reach the Mark Abbott Memorial Lighthouse (where the Santa Cruz Surf Museum is located), you can visit the Santa Cruz Surf Sculpture not far from Steamers Lane where top surfers go to catch waves, represents the surfing spirit known throughout Santa Cruz and the ecologically protected Monterey Bay sanctuary.

Commissioned and dedicated back in 1992, the sculpture features a bronze male surfer standing in front of his board which was created by sculptors Brian W. Curtis and Thomas Marsh.
