The One about the MXL MM160 Lavalier Microphone

The MXL MM160 Lavalier Microphone for Smartphones is a wonderful way for one to record audio with their cel phone, tablet and really anything that has a 3.5 mm input (for mic or headphones) and you have a good audio recorder.

I’ve tested this on an Android smart phone using a voice recorder and also on audacity, Sound Studio and audio recorder and the lavalier mic worked perfectly. The main thing is that it’s important that the mic is clipped and not rubbing on any surfaces because the mic will pick up those sounds.

I found the recordings to be clear and concise (wish I had this during my earlier podcast years) and it also helps to have this around, when I do my interviews and need the audio for transcribing.

I’m not sure if MXL offers an extension, but it would be nice to have an extra few feet of cable as if you are standing a bit too far, you can accidentally yank the mic and then the person has to place the mic or hold it. So, I just wish the cable was 8 ft. instead of 6 ft.

The cable also has an adapter for a headphone out, for audio playback which is also a plus.

Overall, there really isn’t much to say bad about this lavalier microphone. It works, it’s simple to use. Just plug it in and with your app or software, just hit record. The only thing I wished that it had was a slightly lengthier cable (just another 2 ft. more and I would have given this a perfect score).

If you are looking for a simple and easy to use lavalier microphone for your smartphone or table and need something portable and easy to transport, then the MXL MM160 Lavalier Microphone is highly recommended!
